XML Schema based standard emerging to facilitate downstream use of CAD + PMI for manufacturing

The Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) and Capvidia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 6 Feb 2013, in which both parties agreed to a collaborative effort to produce a set of XML Schemas and support documentation that will facilitate the representation and exchange of model-based product definition plus various conformance levels (i.e., technical readiness levels) of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) that will not only satisfy the CAD to Quality Measurement use case but will meet many other CAD to Manufacturing needs.

QIF (Quality Information Framework) Working Group (WG) Meeting at NIST on Dec 14, 2011

The DMSC QIF (Quality Information Framework) Working Group will be hosted by NIST, and co-located with the NIST MBE (Model-Based Engineering) and TDP (Technical Package Data) meetings. This is one group of meetings nobody should miss, with NIST, the Army, and the DMSC together.
